Membership: Obligations
- Code of Professional Conduct
Members of the Society are obliged to adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Continuing Professional Development
CPD is any learning activity that helps to maintain, develop or increase knowledge for the purposes of upholding a high standard of professional practice. CPD can be technical or non-technical. CPD is a requirement of maintaining STEP membership (see STEP’s Code of Professional Conduct).
- CPD planning and role benchmarking
In 2014 STEP introduced a new CPD Policy and CPD Guidelines, which you can download below. The new policy uses role benchmarking, and no longer requires a specific number of hours of CPD. Instead you can identify which CPD activities are most relevant to you and tailor your own CPD plan based on the specific requirements of your role.
The policy is designed to be:
|
• relevant to members in their professional roles;
|
• flexible enough to cater for individual circumstances;
|
• simple to manage and complete.
|
All new STEP members are required to use this role benchmarking approach to CPD. Download the revised
CPD Policy and Guidelines below:
